Why, though?

Why do I want to make things out of leather? Because when I go to the shops, all I see is cheap imported goods sold for a premium. For years, I'd look for a good belt - the label says leather, only to have it stretch out so you can see the fabric holding it together. Thats not leather, and it doesn't last any time at all. Why would I want to pay $50 for a piece of plastic impregnated leather scrapings when a leather one doesn't cost that much more, and can last a life time?
